As a Fabricator, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective on-site repair and fabrication of containers, drop boxes, and compactors owned or maintained by Rogue Waste Systems. You will also be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the equipment used in operations of Rogue Disposal & Recycling.

Key Position Responsibilities and Accountability

Knowledge and skill in fabrication and the safe, efficient and effective use of tools used in fabrication plus various other equipment

  • Mig and arc welding, cutting torches, plasma arcs, hydraulic jacks, overhead hoists, hydraulic presses, porta-power and pressure washers
  • Air-powered and electric-powered hand tools, including grinders, sanders, cut-off saws, drills, wrenches and impact guns
  • Skill and experience to safely operate fork-lift equipment

Perform repair and fabrication of containers, drop boxes and compactors

  • Ability to identify and complete requirements to bring containers and drop boxes up to service standards:
    • filling cracks and holes, straightening sides, and repairing or replacing pockets, lids, wheels, doors, etc.
    • prepare containers and drop boxes for painting, then complete the painting
  • Participate in and support training and initiatives to improve service quality, safety, customer and employee relations, and operational efficiency and effectiveness

Help maintain a safe workplace

  • Follows all safety policies and procedures
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to work independently of direct supervision and to respond with flexibility to potentially changing service demands
  • Attention to detail required to ensure accuracy of records and reports
  • Capable of working in a high speed, consistent manner for maximum efficiency
  • Basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers
  • Customer service attitude that’s professional, courteous and cooperative with
    all co-workers
  • Verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with predominantly
    English speaking customers in order to gather and provide information, and to
    address frustrations and potential conflicts effectively
  • Mobility to routinely bend, lift and get into tight working area
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds by hand and work with others and/or mechanical devices to lift heavier objects
  • Ability to routinely move heavy containers and open/close heavy doors by pushing and pulling
  • Tolerance to work in extreme weather and environmental conditions — including rain, snow and wind, with temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 110 degrees
  • Pass routine random drug and alcohol tests
  • Valid Oregon drivers license and clean driving record
  • Punctual and reliable in work attendance and job performance

Preferred Experience

  • Two plus years in a fabrication/welding shop
  • Welding Certification from American Welding Society

Conditions of Employment

Candidates for this position must meet the above requirements, and successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, physical and physical capacities evaluation.

Work Schedule: Formal work week is Sunday through Saturday. Scheduled work is 7 am-3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Additional work on other days may be required as needed. Work day includes 30 minute unpaid meal period..

Probationary Period: 720 hours worked
