Why proper disposal is critical

Old tires lying about filled with water can be home to hundreds of new mosquitos every week. Not only are the mosquitos a nuisance, but they can also carry disease — including West Nile virus. Newer technology has made it possible to use old tires as an alternative fuel in the manufacturing of Portland cement and as a material used in hot melt asphalt. They have also been used in the creation of barriers for collision reduction, rainwater runoff and erosion control. Tires can even be ground up and used as fuel or recycled for use on basketball courts and shoe products. So if you have old tires you need to get rid of, be sure to dispose of them legally and correctly.
