Joining forces to feed the hungry: 12th annual Mayors United event raises highest-ever amount

This year’s Mayors United event and auction, held virtually on March 5, raised over $155,000 for ACCESS, allowing the organization to provide food, warmth and shelter to our most vulnerable neighbors. Rogue Disposal & Recycling is honored to come alongside the mayors of Jackson County for this critical cause.

Even though it was held virtually, the event provided all the best parts of an in-person event — including a virtual social hour, live entertainment from the Brothers Reed, and a live auction with fun and exciting items, trips, restaurant gift certificates and more. A handful of Rogue employees and their spouses held their own virtual viewing party as a way to support the event. All designed to raise money for ACCESS and the people of Jackson County.

A helping hand for neighbors in need

The Community Action Agency of Jackson County — known as ACCESS — has helped individuals and families throughout Jackson County for more than 45 years. Services cover everything from food, energy assistance and affordable housing to medical equipment and more — including outreach to people with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness and veterans.

For every dollar ACCESS raises, the organization is able to provide four meals to local folks struggling with hunger. Even before the pandemic and last year’s devastating wildfires, ACCESS served one in four Jackson County residents. That’s more than 57,000 children and families, individuals and seniors throughout our area. And now the need is even greater.
